The Difference Between Oxygen Bleach and Sunlight

However, some yellow stains are not easily broken down by this type of oxidation. In these cases, sunlight can be more effective.
Sunlight contains ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which can break down certain color compounds through a process called photodegradation. This reaction can destroy the molecules responsible for yellow discoloration.

Sun bleaching tends to work best on
- white cotton fabrics
- natural fibers such as linen
- light-colored clothing
- Sauces and Condiments (Curry, Tomato Sauce)
Curcumin in curry and lycopene in tomato sauce are powerful natural pigments. As organic compounds, these substances have the characteristic of fading when exposed to UV light, which breaks down their molecular bonds.
However, prolonged exposure to sunlight can also fade dyes or weaken fibers over time, so it should be used carefully on colored garments.

If a yellow stain does not respond to oxygen bleach, try washing the garment normally and then letting it dry in direct sunlight while it is still slightly damp.
